Emerging Artist Featured by Vibe Magazine on Black Planet
New York, NY

Up and coming singer and song writer Redd Velvet has captured the attention of Black Planet , a social networking website founded in 1999 by Omar Wasow and Vibe Magazine, launched in 1993 by Quincy Jones, which features performing artists and other entertainers.

In conjunction with Vibe Magazine, Black Planet features established and emerging artist in the artist spotlight of the music section. The site boasts a membership of more than 16 million. Professionals and black planet staff with expertise in the music industry choose featured artist.

Redd was surprised to know that she had received such recognition along with the likes of Jill Scott, India Arie, Ledisi, Erykah Badu, and Anthony Hamilton. In the excitement that followed her selection, Redd said, “These are big name artists who have been in the industry long before me and have achieved stellar status. To be worthy of recognition along side any of them just blows me! I am just grateful for the endorsement of Black Planet and Vibe because there are so many talented artists with profiles on Black Planet. To be singled out like that just makes me know that I must always bring my “A-game” to every performance. When people like that endorse you, you can't be mediocre. You can't let them down!

“Wouldn’t You Like Know” a single from her untitled album set for release this summerl can be heard on the site www.blackplanet.com. The smooth , jazzy tongue-in-cheek tune has received thousands of spins to date which is quite impressive for a new indie artist! “We just submitted the bio, photo and mp3 file for consideration out of curiosity to see if there was a market for my style of music. I didn’t expect this, but I am definitely alright with it”, says Redd with that signature grin that always makes you wonder what she will be up to next! When asked about her next move she gave a sly wink and replied , "Wouldn't you like to know."
