Memphis Blues Singer Brings Community Health Initiatve to Memphis December 2011
Memphis, Tennesee now has a health and social services program designed to educate the public regarding holistic health promotion and disease prevention . Music Heals Memphis Incorporated is a non-profit organization founded by singer /songwriter Redd Velvet to improve the quality of life for Memphians, especially musicians , using a holistic approach that will provide an array of services and resources from health screenings to financial literacy seminars. Redd Velvet stated ,"Music built Memphis and music can heals Memphis! Redd believes that the social ills that plague the city can be diminished through targeted programs that teach people the skills to live better and help them to get what they need to do it. Singer /songwriter Redd Velvet has been nominated Best New Female Blues Artist of The Year by the Jus 'Blues Foundation. The Foundation has honored blues and sould greats such as Koko Taylor, Denise LaSalle,and Bobby Rush just to name a few. The awards ceremony ,blues jam , and Living legends gala honoring Bobby Blue Bland will be held at the Westin Hotel in Memphis , Tennessee August 3-5,2011. Emerging Artist wins Listener's Choice Award July 2011
Memphis , Tennessee based soul/blues singer and songwriter Redd Velvet has recieved a Listener's Choice Award from the Emerge Bright Lights Music Program sponsored by C-spire Wireless. "Walkie Talkie Man" written by Redd and featured on her debut album Womanhood 101 was chosen for the award. The Emerge program recently entered a partnership with The Recording Academy® Memphis Chapter to advance artistic and technical excellence, work to ensure a vital and free creative environment, and act as an advocate on behalf of music and its makers .

Redd's homespun perspective and front porch philosophy will cover and color a variety of topics to inform, enlighten, and entertain!
